Product feature
  1. Which size?
Place the shin guard as low as possible on your leg so that your ankles are well covered (make sure there are no pressure points and your ankle can move freely). Ideally, the top of the shin guard should come to 2 cm below your kneecap. Your shin guard should fit snugly around your calf without being too tight.
  2. Safety tips
Hockey should be fun. Play safely. Always wear your mouthguard, shin guards and a glove. Use hockey shoes with protective reinforcement and soles designed for your playing surface during matches and training.
  3. Protecting your legs
A shin guard is a piece of personal protection equipment. It should meet current regulations, including the PPE regulation (EU) 2016/425. Use a shin guard that was specifically designed for field hockey. A field hockey shin guard has two features specific to the sport: it covers the ankles and provides wide coverage around the legs. Football shin guards are not suitable for field hockey.
  4. Protecting your legs (cont.)
It features a moulded plastic plate that is generally lined with foam to absorb impacts. Replace your shin guard according to the manufacturer's indications or as soon as it begins to show signs of wear. Refer to the product user guide in case of questions.
  5. Design
Hard plastic shell to cover the shin. Lined with hard foam to cover the sides of the leg. The ankle guard is stitched in place and has small plastic shells on the front and sides, lined entirely with low-density foam and synthetic fabric. There are holes for ventilation. The ankle guard has an elasticated strap that fits under the foot.
  6. Design (cont.)
The product stays in place with an elasticated rip-tab. Not left/right specific.
  7. Manufacturer's description
Highly popular high impact plastic shell. Shock absorbing high density foam lining. Fixed soft ankle disc and Achilles padding. Ideal for young club / school players.

  • Grays Hockey Shin Pads

    Lianne (United Kingdom)
Used for 1 week or less
These are good shin pads at a decent price. Time will tell how long they last but they are comfy and stay in place which is a good start! The elastic strap looks a bit flimsy but has done the job so far.
