Size and living space

Bedroom length 225 cm
Bedroom width 125 cm to the head and 105 cm to the feet.
Room height 95 cm
2 aluminium stakes (composed of 2 sections each) located at the feet to increase the usable space.
Two 60 cm-deep side canopies (storage space between the bedroom and flysheet), each able to accommodate a backpack of about 50 to 60 litres, mountain equipment and a pair of hiking boots.
2 pockets in bedroom.

Architecture, tent poles and tent pegs

To use this tarp tent, you need two hiking poles (ideal height 115cm; max. 120cm) to form the structure. These poles are not supplied with the tent

The pegs are made from 7075 T6 aluminium and have an extremely resistant “anvil” head.
They are non-anodised for a limited environmental impact.

This architecture makes the tent very lightweight but it needs to be fixed to the ground because it is not free-standing.

Assembly tips

Start by adjusting your poles to 115 cm in length.

Then drive the tent pegs into the ground at the four corners of the tarp tent.
Given that the flysheet and bedroom are pre-assembled, each of the poles must be slid under the flysheet, directly above each of the doors. That's how you pitch your tarp tent!

Then put the 2 aluminium stakes in the spaces provided at the foot of the tent.
Now you just have to attach the guy lines and tighten them (the height of the poles can be adjusted).

And to disassemble it

This job is very simple.
You just have to remove the 2 poles which constituted the structure of the tent, then, once the guy wires are undone and the sardines removed from the ground, to fold the tent taking into account the width of the cover.

Tip: Leave the two stakes in position to save time when you assemble it next time!

Waterproofing

Forclaz tents are laboratory-tested: pitched tent, 200 litres/sqm/hour (3 hours, equivalent to a tropical storm).

The 20D polyester (PES) flysheet (2,000 mm rating) and 40D polyamide groundsheet (3,000 mm rating) have a polyurethane coating (inside) and silicone coating (outside).

Seams taped with heat-sealed strips.

Wind resistance

We test all our tents in a wind tunnel on a turntable where we can expose each side of the tent to the wind.
To test its wind resistance, the tent must be properly pitched, taut but not stretched, with all the guy ropes in position around the tent. It should remain habitable at wind speeds of 70km/h, measured near ground level.

Our tents are certified by the CSTB independent laboratory in Nantes.

Ventilation and condensation prevention

Top ventilation on each side near the doors.
Upper part of the bedroom in mosquito net mesh to facilitate air flow.
Water repellent fabric around the outside of the bedroom to protect against condensation and draughts.

To reduce condensation inside your tent, it must be properly pitched, with the fabric kept taut without being over-stretched, and the air vents open.

Seasons

3-season tent: your tent will protect you from the harsh weather conditions you can encounter in the spring, summer or autumn. It will withstand light snowfall but is not designed to withstand heavy loads that would weigh on the structure.
In case of snow, remember to shake your tent regularly in order to bring down any snow that has accumulated to avoid putting too much weight on the structure of your tent.

Usage and care

Your tent is designed for touring bivouacs, not for static day use.
Avoid leaving it in direct sunlight as much as possible because the ultra-light fabrics can be sensitive to UV rays, which weaken them.

All of our tents are designed to be repairable.
