TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Durability

Elbow and crotch reinforcements for better durability.
Outer reinforcement patches in high-wear areas.
For better durability, the seams are taped in high-wear areas.
Melcro-taped: inner reinforcement of seams in delicate areas

Taped seams with a GBS glued and blind-stitched assembly.

The seams of the suit and hood are waterproof, with a glued and blind-stitched (GBS) assembly: the neoprene is glued first, then stitched for maximum strength (the needle does not completely pass through the neoprene to prevent water infiltration).

Limitation of water ingress

The ends of the wrists have silicone stoppers that limit water ingress. They also allow better support when using gloves.

Thermal comfort details.

Front-zip wetsuit jacket with 5 mm neoprene on the chest.
2.5 mm neoprene roll-up hood.
By trapping a thin layer of water around the body, a wetsuit works in two ways:
1-The trapped water gradually warms up
2-Heat transfer from the body decreases.
The suit and film of water form an insulating layer.
Once a thin film of water is trapped between your body and the jacket, no more water is able to circulate thanks to the Inner Stop Water inside the sleeves.

Multi-thickness

The wetsuit features 5 mm neoprene on the chest to guarantee thermal comfort.
4 mm on the sides and shoulders and 3 mm of Supratex on the sleeves, this multi-thickness has the comfort and ergonomics required for a canyoning suit

What is a wetsuit?

This is the most common type of wetsuit on the market. It is not designed to keep the water out but to trap it, so that your body then warms it up, creating a thermal buffer between you and the outside.
Made of neoprene - a rubber polymer filled with air bubbles - these wetsuits are available in thicknesses of 0.5 mm to 7 mm.
As such, they make excellent wetsuits because they are flexible and modular.

Tips for looking after your canyoning suit?

1/ After each session, soak the wetsuit in clean water, on the outside and the inside
2/ Use a bactericide solution to sanitise
3/ Rinse thoroughly in clean water
4/ Dry on a wide hanger in a well-ventilated place away from direct light. Keep away from direct sunlight as it can fade the fabric parts of the suit. The zips can be cleaned with a toothbrush.

Choose your size carefully

To make the most of the features of your wetsuit, it is necessary to choose the correct size. A canyoning wetsuit should be a very tight fit and there should be no visible folds. When dry, it is perfectly normal to feel like it is too tight, this discomfort disappears as soon as the wetsuit gets wet. If you choose a wetsuit that is too big, folds will appear, you will experience irritation and thermal insulation will be reduced (letting in water).

Keep warm

When we are in the water, we lose more than half of our body heat through our extremities (feet, hands, head).
In view of this, here are the recommended accessories:
- in warm water and temperate water (>17°C) => 3 mm neoprene low booties.
- in cold water (12°C - 17°C): 3 mm Gloves
- in very cold water (7°C - 12°C): Neoprene jacket, gloves and hood.

As others have said, a little short in the body.
Callum (United Kingdom) Used for 1 week or less
I bought a large maskoon canyoning jacket and agree with several other reviews that it is a bit short in the body. Luckily I’m what you’d describe as “stocky” so whilst it was a little tight this wasn’t too much of an issue for me. After a few hours of wearing it in a gorge it loosened to a pretty comfortable level.

This paired with the steamer made for a really comfy few hours in the gorge and I’d thoroughly recommend at least trying it on, but I definitely do think it should be slightly longer in the body or allow for a little more stretch to fit a better range of people.
Too tight on the crotch
James (United Kingdom) Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Ordered to got over the top of my regular wetsuit when guiding coasteering. Normally I'd get things in a small (I'm 5ft10" but very skinny). I ordered this in a medium, yet it was far too tight; particularly on the crotch. (Probably designed by a wife who hates her husband going canyoneering). I send it back, to exchange for a large and never received my return. First time I've tried returning something with decathlon
Response of the brand

Hello,

Thanks for providing feedback on the product and sorry for the delay in getting back to you. If you're yet to receive your refund, please reach out and we'll get it rectified immediately.

Regarding the sizing, we are aware that our Decathlon EU sizing does come up a little short compared to standard sizing from other brands. This said, we'll pass your feedback onto the product design team to double check (fortunately our designers all share your love for the sport... so we try to keep these potential problems to a minimum).
