Forclaz Rain overtrousers protect the lower half of your body for a complete and effective rain protection system for your mountain outings. Care products: waterproofing spray or liquid in the machine To renew the fabric's water repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
  8. Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed as a water column of mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. Components scoring 2000 mm can resist the pressure from 2000 mm of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hours).
  9. Waterproofing
This garment has been shower-tested using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
  10. Component breathability
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets and overtrousers (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow you to regulate the temperature inside the garment and also to facilitate the transfer of perspiration generated by the body during physical effort.
  11. Component with coating or a membrane
Coating: like a layer of "paint" applied on the underside of the fabric to make it waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane: is like a very fine plastic film (polyurethane) making the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the edge, being more supple, lightweight, durable and often more breathable than coating.
  12. Consists of 3, 2 or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is bonded to an inner and outer layer of the component. This construction helps the membrane last longer and boosts the component's performance. 2 layers: the membrane is only bonded to the outer layer, the inner protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible
  13. Water repellency
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every three washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received water-repellent treatment.
  14. Comparative note on the environmental impact of products
The environmental impact of each product is calculated for the product's entire life cycle, using different indicators. A general ABCDE mark is attributed to help you identify the best environmental performance by comparing products to each other (t-shirts, rucksacks, etc). Decathlon is a voluntary supporter of the environmentally-friendly labelling approach. For more information visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
  15. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The product's environmental impact is calculated across its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall ABCDE score is attributed to help you more readily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental information. For more information visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

This has been a revelation, I use to dread the rainy days when I was out for a walk, but now I look forward to them, so I can once again be impressed with this jacket! Its not the cheapest but you'll not regret a penny of it. Get home with it covered in rain drops, give it a shake and its dry! its like a well waxed car the water just rolls off it. Add that to the fact that its comfortable to wear and has two large zips under the arms to allow some air in and its a pleasure to wear. I love it.

I wanted a light pack able jacket for a walking break in the Picos de Europa. This fitted the bill and proved its worth in several periods of heavy rain not letting any in and staying fairly breathable. Good value.
