Product feature
  1. A word from the product manager
We wanted to create a versatile board for people not attracted to snow parks. This board is made for the piste but can also be used off-piste with ease. So much fun! It was 100% prototyped in our design centre, in the Passy Mountain Store in Haute-Savoie, before being tested in resorts near our offices throughout its development.
  2. Suitability/location
The All Road is the all-mountain board par excellence: 50% piste and 50% off-piste. You can go anywhere, on all types of snow, on-piste, off-piste and on powder, as well as on crusted snow thanks to its elongated tip than has been slimmed down so that knocks less. This is why the nose has this particular shape. Do not use in snow parks: this board is not intended for use on modules or for riding backwards.
  3. Directional Snowboard
The shape of the board is directional, i.e. the board has a nose and tail. It is not symmetrical; the tail of the board is slightly narrower than the front, the bindings and the contact points of the snowboard (setback) are a little to the rear. A directional shape offers better edge grip when cornering, improved steering and superior acceleration when exiting turns.
  4. Standard camber + rocker
We have kept all the benefits of a standard camber (thanks to the flexibility of the board, a standard camber acts as a spring to give edge grip on all types of snow, switches quickly from edge-to-edge and accelerates well on exiting turns) while adding the advantages of a rocker (when loaded, the contact points of the board on the snow come closer together making the board easier to handle). The rocker elongates and raises the nose so that it can glide better over powder.
  5. Medium versatile flex
The flex is the stiffness of the board between the front and rear. The flex of the Bullwhip 500 All Road is about 3/5, which is average and versatile. It not only provides stability in carved turns but is also more forgiving of errors.
  6. Versatile and medium torsion
The torsional strength, i.e. the torsional stiffness of the board between the feet, is about 3/5 on the Bullwhip 500 All Road, which is fairly stiff for good edge grip in turns, acceleration on exiting turns and responsive edge-to-edge transitions. This makes the board suitable for intermediate to advanced snowboarders, while remaining very accessible physically.
  7. 25 mm setback
The setback is when the board's compression points with the snow are not symmetrical in relation to the centre of the board, but set back towards the rear. The bindings are also set back towards the rear by the same distance. 25 mm setback => significant setback for a directional board. It provides better edge grip in turns and buoyancy in powder snow because the weight is on the tail of the board which naturally raises the nose.
  8. Technical information
Size 163 cm Wide Front width 308 mm. Centre 270 mm. Rear 300 mm. Radius 9.5 m. Effective edge 1,064 mm. No. of inserts: 8 + 8 (3 possible positions per binding/40 mm between each). Recommended stance: 550 mm.
  9. Sold as a pack with Illusion 500 bindings with rigid piste/off-piste type highback
It's an Illusion 700 without the EVA Full Pad with: - 3D foam ankle strap that hugs the boot, offering perfect support. The foam allows you to have a tight fit without compromising on comfort - front cap strap positioned on the toes only for incredible comfort and support - easy Turn Strap opening system so the strap doesn't get caught during boot entry. 158 cm, 163 cm and 168 cm: Binding size L, adapts to sizes 8 to 13.
  10. When should I wax my snowboard?
Wed'ze boards are supplied already waxed. They require regular maintenance just like all snowboards and skis: ideally requires waxing every 5 outings and at least once a year: - either at the beginning of the season to start with a very good glide - or at the end of the season, by leaving a layer of wax to protect the base throughout the summer
  11. What's the right size Bullwhip 500 All Road for me?
For All Mountain use, choose -15 or -20 cm (e.g. a person who is 1.74m tall can take a board between 1.59 and 1.54 m). Because the All Road has a rocker, you can choose a slightly bigger size. Shorter boards are easier to handle. This is also advisable for people who are light for their height. Longer boards provide greater stability at high speed. 158 cm (60-80 kg) => from 1.70 m to 1.75 m 163 cm (75-90 kg) => from 1.75 m to 1.82 m 168 cm (85-+110 kg) => 1.80 m and more
  12. What is a Wide snowboard?
A "Wide" board is a board which is wider than the average so that "big" feet do not dig in the snow when turning at a steep angle, causing you to fall. Select a "Wide" board if you take size 10 or over. "Wide" is the width of the board at the centre. At Decathlon, we have defined them as follows: - up to 250mm: normal board - 251 mm to 259 mm: Mid wide - above 260 mm: Wide
Product testing
  1. Composition
    Board : 70.0% Wood, Board : 20.0% Glass - Fiber (FG), Board : 10.0% Epoxy Buckles : 50.0% Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) - Phtalate free, Buckles : 50.0% Polyamide 6.6 (PA6.6)
  2. Storage advice
Dry edges at the end of the day to prevent rust. Ideally, wax every 5 outings. Storing for the summer: keep away from sunlight, you can leave your bindings on the board.
  3. Product restrictions
Not suitable for wide-fitting heels >95 mm: risk of wear
  4. Product catchline
A standard camber snowboard with medium torsional strength for good edge grip on hard snow. Long front tip and rocker for floating on powder. Wide sizing for big feet.

  • Capable, big, wide all-mountain board

Used for 1 week or less
I'm 1.88 tall, weigh just under 100KG and have size 47 feet. A board that works on both a groomed piste and on powder that can keep my feet out of the snow was what I wanted -- the Bullwhip 500 168W works for me. It kept me afloat in some pretty deep snow, but handled a hard piste well without the flapping of a true rocker such as a K2 Gyrator in the same size. I personally didn't find the bindings suited me -- I swapped them for an old Union set that gave me more lift and edge control. This board seems a good all-rounder that doesn't require any major compromise for a free-rider. The design is low-key and looks good to my eyes. Decathlon should consider selling the board on its own -- the large footed will likely want a little more lift in deep snow than the supplied bindings provide. After six-days in a range of conditions in the Italian Alps I am pleased with the board -- great value and an intelligent piece of design.

Pri vyssi rychlosti take pekne drzelo.
