  5. Main component
    Ultra-light 2.5-layer membrane fabric.
  6. Component waterproofing
This garment has been validated in a shower test under 100 L of water / sqm / hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
  7. Component breathability
Aside from the breathability of the fabrics used, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, air holes, mesh) to improve overall ventilation. These ventilation systems regulate the temperature inside the garment and help wick away the perspiration generated by the body during exercise.
  8. Component with coating or a membrane
A coating is like a kind of paint applied to the inside of the fabric that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It is often less costly than a membrane, and requires a lining for protection. The membrane is a kind of very thin plastic film (polyurethane) that makes the component waterproof while remaining breathable. It has the advantage of being more flexible, lighter, more durable and often more breathable than a coating. This jacket has a membrane.
  9. Component consisting of 3 layers, 2 layers or 2.5 layers
3 layers: the membrane is glued between the 2 inner and outer layers of the component. This construction increases the longevity of the membrane and the performance of the fabric. 2 layers: the membrane is glued only to the outer fabric; the inner protective lining is free. This construction costs less but is generally more cumbersome. 2.5 layers: the membrane has inner protection with a kind of varnish coating rather than an actual layer to make it as lightweight as possible.
  10. Water-repellent property of the fabric
The water-repellency of a fabric is its ability to let water run off its surface without absorbing it. In this way, the fabric does not get waterlogged and remains light, breathable and warm. The water-repellent property is obtained by applying a treatment to the outer surface of the fabric. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment (we recommend every 3 washes). All Quechua’s waterproof jackets receive a water-repellent treatment.
  11. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The products’ environmental impacts are calculated over its entire life cycle using different indicators. An overall score from A to E is given to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of the same type (T-shirts, trousers, rucksacks, etc.) with each other. Decathlon is committed to displaying the environmental information of its products. For more information: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/
