Product feature
  1. Crosscontact sole
The sole design is the product of a lengthy research and development process conducted in our laboratories, combined with a special rubber formulation to optimise grip and traction. As requirements are not the same, we automatically look for the best compromise to develop on both soft and dry terrain.
  2. Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: these boots, which have been tested in the laboratory and the field, have a breathable, waterproof membrane for optimum protection in the rain. First, the boot is immersed in water with pressurised air inside to check that no bubbles form on the surface. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
  3. Waterproofing level
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 16 hours of walking). Naturally, after this test or in use, the boot regains its original waterproofing once dry.The MH100 Mid waterproof boot passed the test involving 4000 flexes.
  4. Prolonging waterproofness
A boot's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. To keep your feet dry for longer, we recommend wearing waterproof gaiters or mini-gaiters to protect the top part of the boots and prevent water, pebbles, sand, etc. from getting inside. To restore the original water repellent properties and prevent staining the outer surface, spray with a waterproof spray several times per year.
  5. Buying tips
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: keep your nails short and, before making your descent, check that your lacing prevents your foot from sliding towards the front of the boot.
  6. What boot size should I choose?
For hiking, try taking one shoe size up from your usual to ensure optimum comfort when going downhill and to prevent your toes from hitting the toe box. Tip: Before any descent, make sure your nails are cut and check that your laces are tightened to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.

  • Great value

    Darryll (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
I wont be spending £100+ on Salomon shoes anymore when these do the job. Perfect for once a week trekking with the dog on the South Downs.
  • not waterproof

    wishart (United Kingdom)
Used for More than 1 year
Had these for over a year (they need replaced) daily use, slightly waterproof for the first two weeks, now suck water like a sponge, stink and are for the bin. Apart from that comfortable boots, great in summer, terrible in winter NOT waterproof at all, you'll be squelching all the way home!!
  • Happy

Was bought for my husband, he was happy with the fit, we walked for some distance when first worn with no problems.
  • Great waterproof boots

    Kirsty (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Fabulous fit, very comfortable and look ace. These boots served me well on a days walking in torrential rain and gale force winds up Kinder Scout. Feet stayed nice and dry, no blisters and were comfortable and light whilst scrambling over rocks and peat bog.
  • Painful

    Iain (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
After 3wks the boots are finally OK to walk in !! Terrible blisters & a huge amount spent on blister plasters & padded stick on pads due to a ridge across the heel/achilles area. I walk approx 35-40 miles pwk & its been very painful. Have not had this problem with other boot manufacturers & not certai whether I will purchase this style again - will see how it goes over next 6mths & see if there is anymore "challenges" with the boots. Today was the 1st pain free walk in 3wks!!
