Product feature
  1. The advantages of "ball fibre" synthetic wadding filling
"The ball-fiber wadding filling is an interesting alternative to feathers: - like feather, it is composed of many fibres with a high capacity to trap air thus insulating from the cold - it has good thermal insulation capacity even when wet - it is easy care: machine washable and can be tumble dried. But heavier and less compressible than a feather filling"
  2. Waterproofing of the component
We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the pressure, the higher the waterproof rating of the fabric. A component with 2000mm waterproofing therefore resists the pressure exercised by 2000mm of water (which corresponds to about a 2-hour rain shower).
  3. What do you mean by a waterproof jacket?
It is the capacity of the fabric to stop water getting inside. This is measured using an approved water pressure test. Given that the average pressure of rain water varies between 1000 mm and 2000 mm, a fabric is considered to be waterproof if it has a rating of 2000 mm or more. Our products resist pressure from 2000 to 10,000 mm. They are therefore very waterproof and suited to even the most extreme weather conditions.
  4. What do you mean by taped seams or waterproof strips?
Its seams are sealed (or taped) using heat-sealed, waterproof strips. They are placed behind the seams and are essential for waterproofing clothing so that water cannot enter by capillary action (water being absorbed by the threads and holes of the fabric).
  5. Waterproofing of the garment
This garment has been subjected to a shower test using 60 l of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a rain shower.
  6. Windproof :
A coating or membrane applied to the inside of the fabric makes it waterproof and therefore windproof. A waterproof fabric has the technical characteristics needed to be certified windproof. It is very important to protect yourself from the wind, when active and when resting, as it drastically cools down the body.
  7. Practical details:
Storm cuffs with ribbed interior, attached adjustable hood with fur, 4 pockets under flaps, 2 hand-warming pockets, full-length central zip with protective windproof flap.
  8. Component resistance test
We carry out resistance-to-wear tests. Colour fastness test: colour fastness is verified to make sure the colours cannot bleed. Ageing test: repeated washing should not affect the fabric's properties, behaviour, thickness or appearance.
  9. Additional recommended products
Care products: spray or liquid water-repellent treatment in the washing machine. To refresh the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimise your clothing's performance throughout its lifetime, we recommend using these products at least at every wash.
  10. Ironing:
    Do not iron.
  11. A score for comparing products' environmental impact
The environmental impacts of the product are calculated over its entire life cycle and with the variety of indicators. An overall ABCDE score is given to help you identify products with the best environmental performance more readily by comparing the same type of product (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon is committed to visually displaying environmental impact. For more information visit:
