Bought this as a gift for a friend & have really enjoyed the test ride. Not quite reluctant to part with it, but looking forward to the response when I hand it over! Amazing value & performs as well as bikes 3x the price.
    • Chain and Gearbox deeply rusted after 6 months

I have been using this bike for the past 6 months.

It was good at the beginning, especially for the price. I've used it to commute to work, and I've never let it outside, always in a Parking or a garage.

However after 5-6 months I'm starting to notice the chain and the gearbox is quite rusted, and noisy ... I've always bought Decathlon products, especially mountain bikes, and it's the first time I've noticed anything that bad.

I might just have got a defective product, so I've just contacted the Decathlon team in order to see what they can do ....
      Response of the brand
I'm sorry to read that the chain and cassette have some rust present.
You will need to lubricate the chain more regularly if you ride to work every day. A wet bike stores in dry conditions will still display surface rust.
Your local store workshop can give you more advice on this point as an inexpensive lubricant ( a few pounds) can make a huge difference.

    • Absolutely brilliant

This is an amazing bike. I am quite new to the world of road bikes ,as i was riding a mountain bike on the road for a few years, but since i have i would never turn back. This bike is fast, sturdy and probably the best £300 you could spend (for me it was anyway). The bikes aesthetics makes it look a lot more than £300. The gears and brakes are good. Overall i think this bike is the best £300 anyone could spend if they are into cycling.
    • What a bike

Well, bought this bike three months ago and been waiting to see how it developed to write a review.
This is a brilliant bike!(for the price you pay). Sure a lighter frame and better components and wheels, and sturdy hubs could be added.. but then you will pay double wouldn't you?.
It feels light and comfortable in long rides. The microshift....not the smother, but does the job and will be replaced once gives up. And this is the beauty of this bike.....their components can be upgraded at taste although to be fair no need for it.
My only complaint...like many others, have been having problems with back wheel. Initially, just after 300km, have to replace bearings; then spokes got loose; and now, a highly annoying "clunk" noise in the hub that makes me believe the axil is damaged. A same really, but not the end of the world.
Normally, within this price range, you do get what you pay for...with the Triban 500se you don't, you do get far far more.
As said, back hub is dreadfull but, might just be mine!!!!

I am not an expert and actually new to cycling but I really like this bike. I have been cycling almost a year and haven't had any problem.. I recently changed the wheels from 23 mm to 25 mm apparently its more comfortable that way..I am a little bit disappointed with the bike repair service as it is not possible to book a slot in advance.. I didn't want to leave my bike at the store overnight so I missed the 3 months free maintenance.. however the people there are helpful. if you need advice and quick fixes they help you..
