What is micellar casein?
Whey is the protein in lactoserum, the liquid part of milk. Casein is the majority protein present in milk and constitutes the solid and insoluble part.
Micellar casein is the casein that's naturally present in milk. It's a natural constituent of milk, obtained without destroying the micelle, by microfiltration.
Benefits of micellar casein
The casein is said to be "native" and originates directly from the milk. It slowly releases amino acids while the body is at rest for better recovery and an anti-catabolic action at night.
When should you take micellar casein?
The timing of protein intake in a muscle building phase requires cutting out nocturnal protein hypercatabolism.
But only a slow protein can do it. This is the advantage of casein, which should ideally be taken before bedtime to supply your muscles with amino acids continuously while you sleep in order to contribute to anabolism (muscle building) and thus fight against muscle catabolism (fibre destruction).
How to prepare your micellar casein
For an intense flavour with a thicker texture, mix 2 spoonfuls of powder (30 g) with 250 ml of liquid. For a milder flavour with a smoother texture, mix 2 spoonfuls of powder (30 g) with 300 ml of liquid. You can prepare your micellar casein with water, a plant-based drink or milk.
Shake for 30 seconds and enjoy.
Drink the shake within an hour of making it.
