The line retrieve per crank of a reel corresponds to the average length (in centimetres) of line picked up with every turn of the handle.

The ratio of a reel corresponds to the number of times the spool turns with every turn of the handle. Example: For a ratio of 5.1:1, the spool spins 5.1 times per crank
